After years of studies, collations, intuitions and verifications on archaeological fields, architect Piero Meogrossi reconfirm his revolutionary hypothesis already maintained a lot of times: the urban design of Rome, during all its history, has been subordinated to one astronomical decumanus (measure between earth and sky) coinciding with Dies Natalis Urbis of April XXIth. According to Meogrossi, this axis of solar connection, which position is perpendicular to the ancient Via Lata, already from the origins of Rome has been the guideline for the lay-out / pomerium of Roma quadrata of Romulus.
The axis connect topographically: the labyrinth of Domus Flavia, the crypto-portico of Vigna Barberini, The Constantine Arch, the center of Colosseum, the octagonal hall of Domus Aurea. This is really a topographical DNA able to perpetuate in the centuries the hidden profile of urban identity.
The discoveries of architect Meogrossi, that have reinterpreted the Forma Urbis design "a la maniera de li antichi" (in the way of ancient world), allow us to start to revise the identity of territory and morphology "in media urbe" and to put together again according to polycentrical formalities the lost places and the memoryself of the city.
