Suetonius and Aulus Gellius record that the emperor Augustus, a wise and prudent commander, choose it as his motto, together the image of a dolphin clasping an anchor. Later this was the "logo" of the humanist Aldo Manuzio, the most intelligent and up-to-date publisher of the Italian Renaissance.

FESTINA LENTE today is a non-profit organization that, thanks to the collaboration of a prestigious Scientific Committee, led by Prof. Maurizio Calvesi, with a group of young historians of art, archaeologists and architects, promotes research in the History of Art, and new type of popularization of the ideas of Art History
